What You Should Know (And DO) About Google’s New Privacy Policy

Google

One of the things that has been a hot topic online recently has been Google’s new privacy policy. While it is disturbing to have so much personal data floating around and accessible on the web, it is unfortunately a sad fact of life these days.

The number one way to keep your private data private is to keep it off the internet. If you’re concerned about someone (even Google) having access to something, don’t put it online. It’s as simple as that.

Now…for the rest of your data….take precautions and opt out of data sharing whenever possible. To learn more how this relates to Google’s new privacy policy, check out this handy tutorial from Church Mag.

We’re happy to introduce you to our newest DP team member, Alison. We know you’ll enjoy getting to know her better!

10 Things You Probably Didn’t Know About Alison!

Alison
What’s your favorite color?
I really love shades of light blue, green, and peach!

What’s your favorite font?
That’s a tough question because I think it changes every month or so. Currently one of my favorite fonts is Clarendon. It actually was first published in 1845 and then was reworked in 1953. It has a classic old-world feel that I just love incorporating into my work these days.

Another one of my favorites is Feel Script. I used this typeface when designing my wedding invitations! It has a such a sweet retro feminine appeal that is so fun to work with.

Coffee or Tea?
I really love both! However, I am from Alabama and southern, sweet tea is very hard to beat!

Psalm 84:10-12: “For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness. Embracing the Unexpected

You’ve planned so hard for your project’s success, but suddenly, you’re faced with an unexpected hurdle. Do you think of it as a distraction—-or an exciting new opportunity to push yourself, your ministry, or your company to a whole new level?

How you deal with situations like this one will be factored into your ultimate success. Success is not achieved by mastering the average hindrances. Anyone can do that. Success is achieved when you can embrace what most people would consider to be an obstacle and transform it into something beautiful.

Just like this violinist.

The Power of Persuasion

The word “persuasion” has always been one of my favorite words. Long before I knew I was headed into the field of public relations, I was fascinated by the concept of helping others form educated and wise opinions.

Through the years, I’ve developed more of an appreciation for the meaning behind this word and one of my favorite definitions is quite simple—Persuasion is helping to guide vital truth around someone’s mental roadblocks.

I had a front-row seat to the power of persuasion just the other day. I’ve already recounted one lesson I learned from my jury service stint, but I barely touched on the actual jury deliberations. You see, even though this was a hard, but relatively easy decision for me to make personally due to my faith in God and His clear leading through His law in the Bible, for others it wasn’t so simple.

The first time all twelve of us polled our verdicts, we were not even close to a unanimous decision. Only five of us were ready with an unequivocal not guilty, and the other seven were soundly entrenched in the guiltier-than-sin and the oh-dear-I-have-no-clue departments. (more…)
